As a child, Samuel Hosain Lamarti learned the Qur’an off by heart, and later on studied Islamic jurisprudence before his conversion to Christianity.

In his book he describes his unusual and demanding journey from his home country of Lebanon and finally to Scotland UK where he became a minister of the Church of Scotland.

He ended his extraordinary career with a Doctorate from the University of Glasgow. Interestingly, he ranks as the first Arab clergyman of Muslim background in the history of the Church of Scotland.
